Madama Butterfly

Madama Butterfly

Royal Opera House

Precio desde € 220.20

An engrossing story of love and betrayal, set to beautiful music, and emotionally powerful - just some of the reasons for the lasting appeal of Madama Butterfly, the first of two Puccini operas in this Royal Opera Season. Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier's exquisite production presents the richly coloured, romantic and exotic Japan envisaged by the 19th Century Europeans. There's exocticism in Puccini's ravishing score, tinted throughout the traditional Japanese music, and with such highlights as the great love duet that closes Act I and Butterfly's aria "Un bel di vedremo" (One fine day). Italian specialist Nicola Luisotti conducts stunning casts that include as the innocent  Cio-Cio-San (Butterfly) Kristine Opolais- an acclaimed Manon Lescaut here in 2014 - and Puccini specialist Alexia Voulgaridou. Newcomer Brian Jagde (In his Royal Opera debut) and Noah Stewart play the seductive but treacherous  Pinkerton. Don't miss this beautiful revival of a beautiful production of one of the most passionate opera's ever written.
